Our research focuses on using techniques in chemical engineering, plant sciences, and molecular biology to optimize the plant cell’s ability to behave as a bioreactor. This research utilizes Agrobacterium-mediated gene transfer to create genetically engineered plants and plant cell cultures that are then coaxed into producing proteins of interest. This research has the potential to revolutionize how biofuels, vaccines, and pharmaceuticals are manufactured.
