Dr. Pan has over 30 years of experiences in leading and conducting innovative research and teaching in food and agricultural product processes in academic and research institutions and industry and received more than 55 research grants. Several processing technologies have been implemented or commercialized by agricultural and food processing industry. He has authored and coauthored more than 250 publications and 9 patent applications. Dr. Pan was the leading book editor of “Infrared Heating for Food and Agricultural Processing”. In addition, he has mentored more than 20 Ph.D. and 5 M.S. students, and 23 post-docs and visiting professors. Dr. Pan received several prestigious awards including the Herbert L. Rothbart Outstanding Early Career Research Scientist Award of the USDA-ARS, the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the 2008 Bring Charm to the World – Influential Chinese Award, ASABE Superior Paper Award. He is well recognized nationally and internationally with his strong research program and achievements, was a keynote or plenary speaker at national and international conferences. His research and achievements have been widely reported through TV, newspaper, magazines, and internet. He has provided consulting services to food companies and has been very active in professional societies, provided leadership in professional societies and organized several international conferences, and established strong domestic and international research collaborations. He severed as the President of Association of Overseas Chinese Agricultural, Biological and Food Engineers, is currently serving as Associate Director of MOST-USDA Agro-products Processing Virtual Center, Trustee on American Society for Agricultural and Biological Engineers Foundation Board and Vice Chairman of Editorial Board of International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering.
